"Ernst Josephson and Carl Fredrik Hill both suffered from mental illness in the midst of their respective careers as artists during the late 19th century. But they continued to create art, mostly drawings, turning into an extensive production for both of them. The expressive way of drawing is combined with motifs liberally inspired by theater, art, and popular culture. The drawings have inspired generations of younger artists."
